<div>This intervention is a continuation of Pedrita Studio’s “Looking for Rita” project, which began in 2021 with an exhibition by the same name at the Underdogs Capsule, presenting a series of watercolour studies for tile-panels, with the compositions comprising portraits of iconic Old Hollywood actress Rita Hayworth. These studies were recently materialized in a Dream Edition called “Rita Hayworth”, and the public installation that can now be seen at the emblematic Palácio Baldaya in Lisbon is one of the Artist’s Proofs of this edition.&nbsp;</div>

<div>Author of one of the songs that served as the slogan for the 25th of April is honored on the facade of a building on the corner of Rua António Patrício and Avenida de Roma, observed a few meters away by the also immense mural dedicated to the singer.<br><br>A work that contemplates Alvalade with a “duet”, since the one who observes the immense painting closely is Simone de Oliveira, immortalized on the facade of the building next to the new mural .<br><br>The homage to the performer of E tarde do adeus , winner of the 1974 Festival da Canção and, alongside Grândola, Vila Morena , key song for the 25th of April, is part of the Inesquecíveis Gallery , an initiative of the Parish Council of Alvalade to stamp the effigy of great Portuguese artists on murals around the neighbourhood.<br><br>The artist was invited by the honoree himself. “He called me and said he'd like me to paint his face on the building's façade”, recalls Tamara Alves, 39, an Algarve woman from Praia do Carvoeiro who has been spreading her art around the country's walls abroad for 13 years.</div>

<div>The diva of Portuguese song, Simone de Oliveira, immortalized on a blind wall, with her face the height of a building in Alvalade.<br>A familiar face for the artist André Mano, Simone is his grandmother and it was he who designed the poster for the singer's farewell concert on the 29th of March. The same design that adorned the apartment where Portuguese architect and graffiti artist André Mano lived, in Luxembourg. A portrait on several walls with the power to blur the distance between the two.<br><br>The countless windows of the skyline of buildings that frame Simone de Oliveira's face, with the unfailing cigarette between his fingers.<br>The drawing marks one of the traits of the graffiti artist 's work , an urban art where the fluidity of the music is a duet with the rigidity of the concrete.<br><br>“Basically, it is the combination of my passion for hip hop , graffiti and architecture”, explains André Mano, who usually inserts the lyrics of his favorite singers between the buildings, as in a coded message.<br>Concrete poetry stamped on walls in Lisbon and other cities he visited and which can be seen on the artist's Instagram profile at @mano.jmk<br><br>The mural also hides his messages. On the left side of the singer's face, her name, "Simone", can be read from top to bottom and, on the right side, the phrase "Yes, it's me". &nbsp;<br><br>Reading, however, is not easy, but seen as an enigma to be deciphered, it makes contemplating the painting even more interesting.<br><br>Easier are the directly written messages, printed on the posters and billboards on the buildings painted on the wall. On them can be read “Woman”, “Daughter”, “Mother”, a memory to the singer's companion, actor Varela Silva, and also to the great successes of the singer, Desfolhada and Sol de Novembro .</div>

<div>Project supported by Galeria Arte Urbana and Kulturfabrik Esch<br><br>In order to create a connection between Portugal and Luxembourg, I didn't want to work with classic or obvious symbols, but rather focus on a personal connection. Since humanized animals usually appear as protagonists in my murals, I chose a crow as the central motif. There are not only two crows on the emblem of Lisbon, but also on the emblem of my home village Koler. So the crow has a very personal value for me and also creates a direct connection between the two places.&nbsp;<br><br>"By focussing on just one crow, symbolizing Lisbon and Koler, I chose the colour blue for my main character, which is inspired by the traditional painted tin-glazed ceramic tiles Azulejos constituting a major aspect of Portuguese architecture to this day and thus putting the motive into its surrounding environment. Additionally, the crow is holding a pasteis de nata, a typical Portuguese egg pastry in one hand, and a rope that runs through the whole picture with the other hand. Either way, this rope can indicate the maritime aspect of the city or one can also suggest the tram ropes that run through Lisbon. Above all, however, the rope is intended on a metaphorical level as a cultural interaction that we all pull together." shares the artist</div>

<div>An epic artwork called Small World, even full of opposites and symbols, carries a clear message. It represents our history and our present. Although most work has become more efficient over the centuries, some traditional forms of livelihood remain. Such as pastoralism, here symbolized with sheep or fishing. Both of these industries you can find in Portugal as well as in small regions of the Czech Republic, I perceive it as a bridge between our countries. In contrast, there is also nature and modern technologies in the picture.<br><br>Dogecoin as a symbol of cryptocurrencies and the present time of progress and absurd earnings is in direct contrast to the hard livelihood of pastoralists and fishermen. And as a symbol of the present, which, despite all scientific progress, cannot prevent natural disasters, coral extinctions, plastic ocean pollution, and environmental disasters that threaten life in our small world, which is common to all nations. Whether we live in Portugal near the ocean or in the middle of Europe in the lowlands</div>
