K.S. Broekhoven was an amateur football club from the Broekhoven district, founded in 1942. The clubhouse was built by members of this illustrious football club themselves in 1982/84.
In 2018, the football club went bankrupt and the Municipality of Tilburg took over the property. From the neighbourhood came the call to preserve the building for its residents: a ‘community centre of, for and by residents where young and old can find a safe and fine place.’ With Robert Martens as initiator and commitment from local residents, this dream became reality.
The building was bought by the Stichting Buurthuis Broekhoven and together with people of the neighbourhood it is being renovated in order to organise fun activities there. Beter Groenewoud and his men will be planting a vegetable garden and the young people from R-Newt will have a nice place to play cards or pool.AIl the streets in this neighbourhood are named after mountains, that's why there's a mountain background. The artists covered it with animals who live in those mountains. There will also a be garden so they painted flowers, fruits and vegetables too.

Erik Veldmeijer (1975) a.k.a. Veldinho is a local self taught-artist, originally from Berkel-Enschot. He didn't follow any draw or art training. As a boy, starting with graffiti, he illegally left his traces on Tilburg's walls. Now Veldmeijer only works on commision. His murals are prominently present in the street scene of the city and as artistic advisor he took the lead in giving Tilburg an injection of color, culture and optimism.
About his name "Veldinho", the artist tells me that, as his last name is Veldmeijer, everyone called him "Veld". Veld was a bit too common in his eyes, so he made it sound more worldly by giving it a little Brazilian twist. Et voilà: Veldinho.

Paul Watty (1975) had his first experience as a graffiti writer in the streets of Tilburg and in Indonesia. He has a Moluccan background and when he was active on the streets for about a year, he travelled to Indonesia for six months, together with his grandparents. On the Moluccan island of Larat, he became the first graffiti artist. Back in Tilburg, he went skateboarding and spray-painting with friends on the former Van Gend & Loos area, where he put his first piece: Aku (Indonesian for 'I'). He regularly sprayed texts along the tracks.
Paul Watty recently became a full-time muralist.

The artists have known each other for 30 years and have worked together before. “No problem at all,’ Veldmeijer says. They are the same age and know each other from the streets. “We started doing graffiti at the same time. In those days we sometimes went out at night to paint,” he says. “Almost all street artists started with graffiti.”

K.S. Broekhoven was een amateurvoetbalclub uit de wijk Broekhoven, opgericht in 1942. Dit clubhuis werd in 1982/84 door leden van deze roemruchte voetbalclub zelf gebouwd.
In 2018 ging de club failliet en nam de gemeente Tilburg het pand over. Vanuit de buurt kwam de roep om het gebouw te behouden voor de bewoners: een ‘buurthuis van, voor en door bewoners waar jong en oud een veilige fijne plek kan vinden. Met Robert Martens als initiatiefnemer en de inzet van buurtbewoners wordt deze droom werkelijkheid.
Het pand is gekocht door de Stichting Buurthuis Broekhoven. Het wordt verbouwd samen met de buurt om er gezellige activiteiten te kunnen organiseren. Mannen van Beter Groenewoud leggen een moestuin aan. De jongeren van R-Newt krijgen een fijne plek om een kaartje leggen of te biljarten.

Alle straten in deze buurt zijn vernoemd naar bergen, daarom staan er bergen op de achtergrond. De kunstenaars hebben deze bedekt met dieren die in die bergen leven.
Er komt ook een moestuin bij het buurthuis en daarom zijn er ook bloemen, fruit en groenten geschilderd.

Erik Veldmeijer (1975), bekend onder zijn alias "Veldinho" is een lokale autodidactische kunstenaar, geboren in Berkel-Enschot. Hij heeft geen teken- of kunstopleiding gevolgd. Als jongen begon hij met het spuiten van graffiti, waarmee hij illegaal zijn sporen achterliet op de Tilburgse muren. Nu werkt Veldmeijer alleen nog in opdracht. Zijn muurschilderingen zijn prominent aanwezig in het straatbeeld van de stad en als artistiek adviseur heeft hij het voortouw genomen om Tilburg een injectie van kleur, cultuur en optimisme te geven.
Over zijn naam “Veldinho” vertelt de kunstenaar: "Omdat mijn achternaam Veldmeijer is, noemt iedereen mij “Veld”. Veld was een beetje te gewoon in mijn ogen, dus liet ik het wereldser klinken door er een kleine Braziliaanse draai aan te geven. Et voilà: Veldinho".

Paul Watty (1975) deed zijn eerste ervaringen als graffitischrijver op in de straten van Tilburg en in Indonesië. Hij heeft een Molukse achtergrond en toen hij ongeveer een jaar op straat actief was, reisde hij samen met zijn grootouders voor een half jaar naar Indonesië. Op het Molukse eiland Larat werd hij de eerste graffitikunstenaar. Terug in Tilburg ging hij skateboarden en spuiten met vrienden op het voormalige Van Gend & Loos terrein, waar hij zijn eerste werk plaatste: Aku (Indonesisch voor 'ik'). Hij spoot regelmatig teksten langs het spoor, maar die tijd ligt al heel lang achter hem.
Sinds kort is Paul Watty fulltime muurschilder.

De artiesten kennen elkaar al dertig jaar en hebben eerder samengewerkt. “Dat gaat zonder problemen”, vertelt Veldmeijer. Ze zijn even oud en kennen elkaar van de straat. “Wij zijn op hetzelfde tijdstip begonnen met graffiti. In die tijd gingen we ’s nachts nog wel eens op pad”, vertelt hij. “Bijna alle straatartiesten zijn begonnen met graffiti.”
