The artist about her artwork: “Upon arriving in the medieval city of Laon, France, I was so intimidated by its beauty, in particular its stunning cathedral, that I could not think of a motif to paint in this prestigious neighborhood. I struggled to feel worthy of adding a single thing. All shapes & form had already been done, all stories told. UNTIL, the moment when I noticed a stray cat looking straight at me with the most unimpressed facial expression possible, wordlessly commenting on my restlessness while she was lazily laying on a column above me. This feline’s face seemed to say "pathetic! comparing your worthiness to anyone else’s. silly humans.“ Man! That cat’s confidence! It shook off what had blocked me from painting & working with my hands instead of my brain. It pushed my out of the intellectual imprisonment into the present. So, that’s what I painted. I shared the story of me finding inspiration in a living being that would never ever question its self-worth and its right to be part of this city. Thank you, kitty!”
