Street Art Cities

In the old days, when only native residents were living in the district, the building this wall is upon used to be a candy shop. The artist used this fact as a startingpoint for the design of his mural. The girl represents the original inhabitants of the houses and the crows refer to all the foreigners that have come to live in this neighbourhood. The girl is sharing some of her candy with the crows. It is her careful attempt to approach the crows step by step. A little token of welcome and acceptance of all the people with different backgrounds and nationalities. 

Abdalkader Abdalwahed (Lattakia, 1979) is a Syrian autodidact artist who is currently living in Tilburg (NL). After the war began in Syria he left his country to start a new and different life in Europe. Art used to be a passion for him since his young age. His new residence allows him to follow his childhood dreams and to release his hands to create and express his feelings and emotions. 
Abdalkader Abdalwahed has studied at the art academy Academie Arendonk in Aerdenhout (BE).

Vroeger, toen er alleen nog maar autochtone bewoners in de wijk woonden, was het gebouw waarop deze muur staat een snoepwinkel. De kunstenaar gebruikte dit feit als uitgangspunt voor het ontwerp van zijn muurschildering. Het meisje vertegenwoordigt de oorspronkelijke bewoners van de huizen en de kraaien verwijzen naar alle buitenlanders die in deze wijk zijn komen wonen. Het meisje deelt een deel van haar snoep met de kraaien. Het is haar voorzichtige poging om de kraaien stap voor stap te benaderen. Een klein gebaar van welkom en acceptatie van alle mensen met verschillende achtergronden en nationaliteiten.

Abdalkader Abdalwahed (Lattakia, 1979) is een Syrische autodidactische kunstenaar die momenteel in Tilburg (NL) woont. Na het uitbreken van de oorlog in Syrië verliet hij zijn land om een nieuw en ander leven te beginnen in Europa. Kunst was al vanaf jonge leeftijd een passie voor hem. Zijn nieuwe woonplaats stelt hem in staat zijn jeugddromen na te jagen en zijn creativiteit de vrije loop te laten om zijn gevoelens en emoties te uiten.
Abdalkader Abdalwahed heeft gestudeerd aan de kunstacademie Academie Arendonk in Aerdenhout (BE).
