The brainstorming for the concept of the façade artworks was a long process with many discussions between the two artists, says Martin Heuwold. "Engels is contradictory as a person and he has many social faces," he describes one of the drivers of these talks. In addition, they had discussed a lot with Internet users. "Our goal is also to appeal to young people," says Kolja Kunstreich. On the one hand, the graffiti pictures are well suited for this, on the other hand, the multimedia access to the topic via social networks.</pre><div> </div><pre>In 1989, Martin Heuwold began using tags (characters) to draw attention to himself in the public space on buses and trains in Wuppertal. A year later he created his first graffiti. Appropriately, he completed an apprenticeship as a painter and varnisher. Initially only active in the illegal sprayer scene, Megx only works legally after being convicted in 1993.

At night he illegally sprayed large-scale works of art on railway and suspension railway trains. There are over a hundred graffiti of him in Wuppertal. In addition to his hometown, he worked in New York, Moscow, Vienna and Cologne, among other places.

He received international attention in 2011 when he repainted a bridge over the sister street in his hometown of Wuppertal with the support of the city and various sponsors in the form of Lego bricks. In 2012, the project was awarded the German Façade Prize.
