<div><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CPQ3DeJNn5d/"><strong>Case Maclaim</strong></a>: I believe the actual beauty of fairy tales is that it is up to our imagination how the character looks and moves and that version is not really up to debate, as it is just like a fingerprint, very unique and personal. <strong>With this mural in the old, historical city center of Madrid I wanted to try a different approach</strong>. So I gave the viewer a new character of a yet unknown fairy tale. I have high hopes that it will encourage specially the young audience to come up with their very own story, in which the lead is a confident, black child in a golden wheelchair and in a self-made mermaid costume.<br><br></div>

In the work of Case Maclaim, the superimposition of hands is not merely a physical movement of the body but also a political movement set in a particular context in which the spectator can visualise recent history and experience emotion. He has left his fingerprints in more than 20 countries. <div>&nbsp;Het werk is er uiteindelijk ook gekomen met de steun van de stad Leuven en de KU Leuven, al stonden de vrienden van Sanda daar aanvankelijk enigszins weigerachtig tegenover. ‘We hebben de dialoog toch opgestart en al snel bleek dat iedereen op dezelfde golflengte zat’, zegt Van Poucke. KU Leuven stelde dan ook een gevel van een van haar eigen gebouwen ter beschikking. ‘Niemand wil dat Sanda vergeten wordt en met deze erg knappe mural in het hartje van de stad – op de muur van een gebouw van de KU Leuven – zal dat ook niet snel gebeuren. Het is een warm eerbetoon aan een vriend, en hopelijk ook een constante reminder om zorg te dragen voor elkaar.’&nbsp;</div>

<div><br>A stone’s throw from Marienplatz, the “Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art (MUCA)” open its doors in a former substation on nearly 2,000 square meters. The façade of the MUCA was designed by the renowned street artist Stohead, thus becoming the art object itself. The museum visitor enters the building through a calligraphically designed “envelope”. The MUCA wants to create a connecting element between the interior and exterior space. This connection is important to us as it is intended to convey to the visitor that street art as an art form needs the public space as a discussion space. The interior space is a kind of protection and experimentation area.<br>The wallpainting in the cafe is created by Case Maclaim.&nbsp;<br><br></div>

<div>This is Case MacLain's second trip to Polynesia during the Ono'u Festival. This time he is painting a giant wall in the commune of Punaauia. The town is famous for its highland oranges. His theme, the orange carriers who go into the mountains and bring down gleanings of oranges on their backs.</div>

<div>The “carnival” has been cancelled globally in the spring of 2020.<br>The whole world has been locked down with an enormous effect on all lives, events and businesses.<br><br>Within this context Case Maclaim has made a new large mural in Aalborg, Denmark as part of the ‘Out in the Open’ mural project of KIRK Gallery, portraying a women wearing her "happy face" in a clowns costume.&nbsp;<br>She thought she was going to the carnival.<br><br>As one of many events the biggest carnival in Northern Europe held in Aalborg, Denmark since 1983 with around 100.000 participants, has been cancelled.<br>When arriving in Aalborg getting an impression of what was the life of the citizens there, the conversation quickly turned into talking about the unique character of a carnival like this, and how it works as an “equalizer” between the people.<br>Or as Case Maclaim put it:<br>“A carnival is something special because it is an event where all are equal. It is the only time of the year where everybody gets to be the same – rich or poor, CEO or student, man or women, since everybody is dressed out to be something different.”<br>But for the first time ever this got cancelled.<br>The carnival in Aalborg then became a metaphor to the artist of the current situation in the world.</div>

<div>Case Maclaim is no stranger to Ostend. He previously painted a beautiful portrait in Ostend, but now he took on the wall of a doctor and physiotherapist. In his typical realistic style, he painted a woman washing a white substance off her hands, a symbol of white washing. a practice in the film industry where white actors get more roles, even when it comes to non-white characters. Discrimination lies very close to his heart. The hands are a recurring subject, something that the owners of the house are particularly happy about. Their late mother's poem also mentioned hands.<br><br>----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------<br>Case Maclaim is geen onbekende voor Oostende. Eerder schilderde hij al een prachtig portret in Oostende, nu nam hij de muur van een arts en kinesiste voor zich. In zijn typische realistische stijl schilderde hij een vrouw die een witte substantie van de handen wast, symbool voor white washing. De Black Lives Matter-beweging ligt hem namelijk heel nauw aan het hart. De handen zijn een terugkerend onderwerp, iets waar de eigenaars van het huis bijzonder blij om zijn. Het gedicht van hun overleden moeder ging ook over handen.</div>

<div>Look it up, the Maclaim crew became world famous for their hyper-realistic work. Case grew in that flow, but gradually added his own surreal layer. He often focuses on the human body. Case Maclaim combines hands, feet and heads with animal, abstract and surrealist forms to question the concept of human beings. He is also praised for his enormous technical baggage.

<br>Case went to a café for work and chatted with the regulars. Local Alan, immediately stood out and told the story of his father who had fought the Nazis as a lieutenant. He decided to paint the man on the wall of the cafe.<br>------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------<br>Zoek maar op, de Maclaim crew werd wereldberoemd met hun hyperrealistisch werk. Case groeide mee in die flow, maar voegde gaandeweg zijn eigen surrealistische laag toe. Vaak focust hij op het menselijk lichaam. Case Maclaim combineert handen, voeten en hoofden met dierlijke, abstracte en surrealistische vormen om zo het concept mens in vraag te stellen. Hij wordt trouwens geroemd om zijn enorme technische bagage.</div><div><br>Case ging voor zijn werk op café en praatte wat met de vaste klanten. Oostendenaar Alan viel meteen op en bracht het verhaal van zijn vader die als luitenant tegen de nazi’s had gevochten. Hij besloot de man na te schilderen op de muur van het café.</div>

<div>During <a href="https://www.amsterdamstreetart.com/if-walls-could-speak/">If Walls Could Speak</a> 10 international and nationally recognized artists used the Platanenweg as their canvas to create 10 stunning murals. 10 murals with 10 stories, all within the theme: Amsterdam for Everybody.<br><br>Case Maclaim is a graffiti painter who relies on his highly developed talent to create pieces that combine lifelike photo-realism with a clear hint of surrealism. With the help of spray cans, he gets the most out of his visuals and creates beautiful artworks that are respected worldwide. He is known for using hands in his work and this piece is no different. <div>Case, also known as Andreas van Chrzarowski (co-founder of the world-famous Ma'Claim Crew), is a historic pioneer of photorealism in graffiti and stands as one of the greatest representatives of this style in contemporary street art.&nbsp;<br>Being true to his style, in Carballo he left us a sample of his art with the spray, showing the power of movement through the hands that tie shoe laces, hands that express movement with colors but also with the superposition of planes. The mural occupies several surfaces of the Forum building.<br>The Germanic artist tells us about the way to go, a path in which we will fight with multiple obstacles to reach our destination. A journey in which we will stumble over and we will have to get up again, making sure to tie our shoes well before getting up again and walking again.&nbsp;</div>

<div>located on a elementary school in Blackstad just 25 km from the hometown of Swedish author Astrid Lindgren.
