The Day The Clown Cried

Description

The artwork was created as part of the project "Against Forgetting" in the run-up to the theme year 1700 years of Jewish life in Germany and 900 years of Jewish life in Thuringia. The title of his work quotes an unpublished film by Jerry Lewis, who in 1972 attempted to tell the story of a clown in a concentration camp. The artwork is intended to point out the ambivalent relationship between the seriousness of the Holocaust and the way we deal with positive, albeit tragic, stories of that time.
