However, it is indeed a painting signed Javier Barriga. A back face appears with two braids. Those of a thoughtful and silent young woman tying her dress. With a nice wink, the presence of a silver Boulogne ring. The perfect symbol of the approach of the street-artist specializing in faceless hyperrealistic portraits that captivate the viewer all the more with the mystery he exudes. “The idea is to bring to Boulogne an iconic work of my style, of my art,” he confides. “Of course I created this fresco especially for this wall. This character is inspired by a young girl in my girlfriend's family. His face does not appear. She does not have her own identity, which allows the spectators who watch her to imagine what they want and to identify with the character according to their mood, the light and the moment of life they are going through. . »<br><br>A real artistic approach. "This is the meaning of my work in the street" resumes Barriga. "I'm not here to impose anything on people. It is up to the spectators to appropriate the work. For me, this is the very essence of street art. I am not someone who has something to say but an artist who has something to do. It's up to the audience to have something to say. We are here to democratize access to culture. This is my philosophy and that of the festival, which is why I really blossomed here. »<br><br>An artistic approach filled with humility which characterizes the character well. Javier Barriga is eternally dissatisfied. “I always try to improve every detail. I am rarely happy with myself. When my work is finished, only the imperfections appear to me. “Imperfections” all related to seeing the smiles of passers-by and the exclamations of the regulars of rue de Bréquerecque, many of whom stop to take a photo and admire the work of art.<br><br>A work inspired by the great classical masters. “I have been passionate about painting since childhood,” says the Chilean. “I really like the Renaissance period. In the beginning, I painted pictures which, in the best of cases, were sold. It then belonged to an owner and the cycle was closed. It wasn't enough for me. I needed to share my work with people who don't consume art. For me, the wall is a canvas. I wanted to bring classic images into the public space. »<br><br>After several works produced in Chile but also in different countries, it was in Boulogne-sur-Mer that Javier Barriga discovered the atmosphere of a festival. “It is an honor for me to have participated. It was the first time that I intervened in an international festival. It was also an opportunity to meet and exchange with other artists. Slim Safont (who did a fresco on rue Maryse Bastié) told me a lot of good things about Boulogne-sur-Mer, the team and the festival. Participating in it was truly amazing. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to bring my style alongside the big names in street art already present here.&nbsp;</div>

Made for the Street Art Festival Boulogne-sur-Mer.<br>&nbsp;</div><div>DAVID WALKER</div><div><br></div><div>A talented portraitist born in 1976, David Walker lives in London. A representative of the graffiti movement, he creates portraits using spray paint only. No paintbrushes, no pencils, no brushes of any kind. In addition to the ephemeral works painted in the streets, his canvases are now on show in Paris, Berlin, New York, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Lisbon and Miami. David Walker uses the spray can exclusively, with no additional technique, in order to give life to sublime portraits of women. “I don’t know them and they don’t even know that I am painting them. If I paint anonymous faces, it is to allow the spectator to create his or her own story”. These faces are sketched, as if scratched out… Sprays from a can thicken the line, rendering it more lifelike.&nbsp; And so emerge sensual and colourful female faces, veritable “Brides of Fire”, as he calls them, who are thereafter emblazoned on the walls of the cities. <div>Through remembering, we honor that which has passed. How we choose to remember something or someone dictates its enduring existence. As the viewer travels down the street and between these two paintings, they are reminded that it is here, in this space between life and death, that memory and experience are formed.<br><br>The concept for these walls was built over many conversations. From small chats to a 10-hour car ride to France, the initial seed began around memories of those who have departed. The bouquet of flowers becomes an offering, a celebration and for us an apt vessel to convey the idea of remembrance. It also allowed us to introduce and engage with the community through the act of asking people to donate flowers from their gardens. After a bouquet was vetted, hung and photographed, the flowers stayed on the wall, slowly wilting as we painted the first mural. Day after day we revisited the flowers and documented their rapid decay. By the time the first mural was complete, we compiled the images, becoming a capsule of our time spent there and a passage between life and death.<br><br>Part of the 6th edition of the Street Art Festival in 2021</div>

<div>The artists wanted to create something the viewer had to participate in and that spoke directly to the settling of Bolougne-ser-Mer. Known as a major fishing port, the city's past and future are intertwined with the sea.<br><br>The images we chose embody a concept of time. A fisherman throws their net into a desolate dried-out landscape becomes a vision of a not-so-distant future. On the second wall, the sun beams over a shoal of fish showing the relatively stable period the earth's ecosystems have had. The viewer finds themselves on the road caught between these two possibilities and a horizon line connecting these two paths. By combining the walls with thier eyes, one can glimpse a way forward in our current ecological crisis that is potentially harmonious with our surroundings.</div>

NIKODEM

<div>Nikodem or NKDM is a hybrid artist who combines street influences (graffiti) with a technical training in drawing. Graphic designer, illustrator, graffiti artist, street artist and screen printer all rolled into one, NKDM’s interventions are many and varied, from the street to the walls of galleries. NKDM makes no judgement regarding candour and satire, lightness and tension and allows this ambiguity to permeate through his works. Whether he is working on a wall or a canvas, his relationship with the material oscillates between that of a sculptor and that of a painter. Today, having abandoned realism for pictorial abstraction, his preferred realm is the street. He seeks to re-enchant our towns and re-appropriate our urban pathways. <div>EDOUARDO KOBRA<br><strong>Brazilian artist – 2 rue Dutertre and impasse Lacour – &nbsp;<br></strong><br></div><div>Kobra was plunged into street art culture at a very young age. In order to develop his style, which is a mix of distinctive mural painting and realism, he undertook the “memory walls” project.<br><br></div><div>The aim was to transform the urban landscape through art and to evoke memories of the towns to which he was invited to express his talent, through paintings that blend nostalgia and modernity.<br><br></div><div>The artist has travelled all over the world to spread his style (London, Athens, Lyon, Los Angeles, New York, Moscow, Lexington, Los Angeles and also Miami). Emmanuel Jarus

<div><strong>Canadian artist –<br></strong>The mural painter Jarus is only 24 years old, yet his classic figurative style gives rise to drawings of great maturity. Originally from Regina, Emmanuel Jarus has not spent more than two months in his adoptive city, Toronto, in the last three years. He has travelled extensively in recent years, from Spain to the United States and including Germany, Great Britain and Mexico. Jarus draws women’s bodies in the main, and men more rarely. His figurative style is largely inspired by his artist grandmother, by the painter Zhong-Ru Huang, who taught him drawing at the age of 16, and by the works of numerous academic portraitists such as William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905), Anders Zorn (1869-1920) and John Singer Sargent (1856-1925).<br>A career that started at a very young age, at around 18, and in large spaces from the outset: “I didn’t want to do graffiti any more, so I started to do enormous portraits on wagons. That was the start,” explains Emmanuel Jarus.<br>A collaboration between a Boulonnais photograph and a canadian artist. <div>Dourone started with graffiti in Madrid in 1999. His style has been defined by the Uruguayan journalist and writer, Eduardo Galeano, as <em>sentipensante</em>, a contraction of the words “feeling” and “thinking” (<em>sentimiento/pensante</em> in Spanish). The development of Dourone’s work has been nourished by his diverse experiences in a number of fields: in-store and home decoration, advertising decoration, fashion editorial illustration, execution of mural frescoes for institutions or businesses, specific commissions for a variety of major brands. In 2012, he started to work with Elodieloll and formed a real team with her.<br>His works can be seen in Spain, France, United States, Belgium, the Netherlands, Colombia, Costa Rica, Morocco and Israel among others.<br>Dourone is constantly evolving. His work is reflective and faithful to the site and the moment in which it is executed. The effect produced leaves no-one unmoved. Johannes Mundinger

<div>Artwork removed after renovation of the house.<br>--------------------------------------------<br><br>Johannes Mundinger devotes himself to mural painting, often with the specific elements of the place of his works. Born in 1982 in Offenburg, Germany, he studied in Münster and Brussels. He is based in Berlin as resident artist at the Urban Art Gallery.</div><div>“Today, we are witnessing the expression of the street and urban artists through different types of visual language”. Mundinger's murals can join street art in a way. His style leans towards highlighting the environment where the work is located. A stylization of urban forms by telling a "brown story". Different elements intermingle without chance sometimes revealing some figurative notes.
