<div>Black History mural painted by Alan Howard (with help from local people) &amp; finished around 1988/89. It is located on the side of what was the Central Club, an old youth club.&nbsp;<br>It was recently sold for development and there was a large local campaign to save the mural, with it being added to the contract that it would not be removed.&nbsp;<br><br>Photo taken 17/09/2022.</div>

<div>A mural of a prisoner climbing over the wall of the old Reading Gaol, using a typewriter.<br>The prison once held Oscar Wilde.<br>This piece was vandalised not long after it was painted (the typewriter was painted out and the tag ROBBO was added over it), but it was repaired and now has a perspex screen covering it and a fence around the bottom of the wall.</div>

<div>Mural of a Red Kite (a common raptor in this part of the UK).<br>It is on the side of the building with full access from the path next to it.<br><br>The artist, Curtis Hylton, has created murals around the UK &amp; Europe and regularly uses flowers to build the image he wants.<br>I would recommend visiting the 'Legal Walls' in Winnesh, Reading (22 large walls) as there are usually a few of his pieces there!</div>

<div>&nbsp;Murals on 3 walls of the Reading Hydro building, a hydro electric generating plant on Caversham Weir on the River Thames.&nbsp;<br>They were painted by Commando Jugenstil, an Italian group who do projects around Europe!</div>

<div>This is a 'Legal' spot with 22 large walls with really good Street / Graffitti Art.<br>The walls do change, some more often than others as some of the artists have favourite walls to paint.<br>I usually see a few by Curtis Hyland down there, some really nice pieces too!</div>

<div>&nbsp;An amazing mural in the underpass at Holy Brook Nook, created by Commando Jugendstil and the local community!&nbsp;<br>It was painted over a period of time by Commando Jugendstil and a number of local volunteers and features panels showing pieces of local history.<br>I have also included some photos from&nbsp; the beginning of October 2022 when it was still being painted, as well as photos from 22/10/22. <div>Piece created during the pandemic by Nathan Bowen (who is from London).<br>There were 3 pieces by this artist in Reading, but one has been painted over and the door the other one was on has been removed!</div>

Stay Safe

<div>Paintings of Archers and an Archery target on St Mary's Butts, next to St Mary's churchyard.<br>Butts is the name of the place where targets were placed and this areas name comes from Medieval times, when it was a legal requirement for archers to regularly practice their skills, which they did here.</div>
