<div>Since a young age Samina had contact with the world of arts, mainly with drawing and painting. He graduated in architecture and everything he learned about space and its geometries became ingredients to its creations. His work consists mainly in the permanent conflict and/or balance of geometric compositions to which he adds natural human representation. In Salreu, Samina portrayed a human eye.<br>Estau 2016</div>

Millo

<div>The Italian artist Millo paints murals in large scale that show friendly inhabitants exploring their urban environment. He uses simple black and white lines with color when necessary, and sometimes he incorporates architectural elements in his paintings.<br><br></div><div>In Estarreja, Millo absorbed the territory. He inspired in the weaving tradition, not forgetting the Antuã River and the moliceiros (traditional boats) and pictured these elements on his mural.</div>

Tiago Galo

<div>Tiago Galo is a portuguese illustrator. After some years working as an architect, he erratically wandered through the underworld and came back to his work as an illustrator. Tiago Galo presents “Illustrated Pardilhó”, portraying four traditional crafts from Pardilhó: shipbuilding, weaving, marsh mats (a mat made of plants) and “tamancos” (a typical shoe made of wood).</div>

Regg Salgado

<div>In 2010, Regg Salgado used stencil for the first time, in order to produce his first works of art. From stencil he then started using the spray cans, later the brushes and finally the extender with plastic paint. Houses, factories and abandoned warehouses allowed his murals to grow to tremendous scales. In “Nobel”, Regg Salgado got inspired in the life and work of Egas Moniz, through photographs, and presents two distinct realities and with different socioeconomic contexts.</div>

Marina Capdevila

<div>What inspires Marina Capdevila is the beauty that doesn’t follow the aesthetical ideals, like older people, timeless characters lost in a society in which they need to try hard to understand. Marina’s muse is her grandmother. What she wants to communicate with her art is the desire to reach the older age with full energy. In her mural there’s a strong and current message related to the problem of plastics. Our acts, no matter how small, are reflected directly into our planet, and into our future.&nbsp;</div>

<div>Add Fuel is the visual artist and portuguese illustrator João Machado. Ex-graphic designer, his art consists of reinterpreting and playing with the traditional portuguese tiles. Based on a combination of tessellations that creates balance through symmetrical repetitions and visual illusion techniques like “trompe l’oeil”, his compositions with multiple layers create a poetical rhythm that plays with the perception of the spectator and the possibilities of interpretation.</div>

<div>This multidisciplinary artist has been working with big brands as a designer, illustrator and tattoo artist. Despite having devoted many years to these crafts, TheCaver confesses that streets are still his favorite office, investing a big part of his time in mural painting in Portugal and all over the world. In Estarreja, he was challenged to paint a mural at the “entrance” of the City. “Everyday” is, like the name implies, what is current in the daily life.</div>

Halfstudio

<div>Halfstudio is a Lettering and Sign Painting studio created by Mariana Branco and Emanuel Barreira in 2010, where all the projects are hand-drawn, painted with a brush and/or applied digitally. The studio includes distinct creative areas, having the Lettering as their central element. “Our home is us” is based on the book “A Nossa Casa”, written by Egas Moniz in 1950 which portraits the past experiences in Casa do Marinheiro, in Avanca.&nbsp;</div>

Vhils

<div>Vhils has been developing a unique visual language based on removing superficial layers from walls and other supports. In his mural he paid a tribute to “Ms. Florinda”, a woman from Estarreja that worked on the rice fields. This work tells us about memory and about cultural identity of both places and people. Vhils creations can be seen all over the world, for example in Brazil, Thailand, Hong-Kong, Italy, United States and Ukraine.</div>

<div>From Porto Rico and living in Arkansas (USA), Ana María started painting little pieces of wood in her father’s carpentry while she was still a child. She studied art and animal science, which explains her distinct humanoid figures: the animals she draws with exaggeratedly anthropomorphic features and that seem to communicate something. In Estarreja, she portrayed a region’s typical animal: the red heron.&nbsp;</div>

The Empty Belly

<div>For The Empty Belly, everything starts with a dot. This work of art also started with a dot, connecting millions of other dots, forming a cerebral angiography, the pioneer technique invented by Egas Moniz. It’s more than a simple angiography, it’s also a codified mural, with precise information about all that helped building this moment. Naturally, it ended with a dot, where he registered the date and time he painted it.</div>

Manolo Mesa

<div>“I come from all things” is an allegory to the rural everyday life and its intrinsic values that mirror his muse Maria. Manolo Mesa is a Spanish artist from Cadiz. Graduated in Fine Arts School, this artist combines his pictorial street experience with his study work. His works represent the relationship of the human being with nature and its resistance to a nature progressively merged in the city.&nbsp;</div>

André da Loba

<div>André da Loba describes himself as an artist and reluctant poet. As an illustrator, animator, graphic designer, sculptor and educator, the combination of curiosity, experience and knowledge of André helps him inspire and create. His work is an invitation and a challenge to change the world, no matter how big or small. To “Metamorphosis”, André was inspired by BioRia’s natural heritage.</div>

Mohamed L’Ghacham

<div>Mohamed L’Ghacham is a painter and mural artist born in Tangier. At school he finds the graffiti world and years later he feels attracted by more classical painters. The Egas Moniz photographical archive was his inspiration source to this mural. The photography he chose retracts Egas Moniz and his nurse, Deolinda, in Santa Marta’s Hospital, in Lisbon.</div>

Akacorleone

<div>AkaCorleone is Pedro Campiche, a visual artist that started his path as a graffiti writer in the underworld of Lisbon. He is known for his color skill, typography, characters and shapes, combining them skillfully, producing appealing and original compositions full of originality and a big sense of humor. In Estarreja, the artist left his universe in a work full of colors, inspired in Egas Moniz, in his house and in his studies.</div>

<div>This Urban Art workshop for the elderly emerged as a challenge to bring urban art to the older people. And the goals were achieved: proving that active aging and solidarity between generations makes more and more sense; demonstrating that this art has the power to increase, promote and value the access to the contemporary art; bring the elderly closer to a form of artistic expression that is usually associated to younger people and demonstrate that age is just a number.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>The local community got involved, got to work and created a mural that was developed in a laid-back work environment and with active participation.</div>

<div>To the polish artist, her art is placed between urban art, pottery, painting and sculpture. She also refers that the main part of her work consists on shaping the traditional lace in clay or painting it on the walls.Her choice is focused on the lace because it contains an aesthetical code that is deeply connected to each culture. In her perspective, in all the laces we can find symmetry and sequence or harmony. In Estarreja, Nespoon transferred to the mural the typical laces of the region.</div>

<div>The visual artist and illustrator has been delighting us with her visual enchanted universe, creating a deep feeling of glare with the fantastic and benevolent creatures that inhabit the dark and mysterious corners of her paintings. The use of contrasting colors and geometrical shapes brings life to ancient legends and myths, creating fantastic histories. In Estarreja, Kruella created her precious “Diamond”, a hymn to the feminine beauty and Art Noveau elements, that are typical of the region.</div>

<div>Art, design and rock’ n’ roll. The duo of illustrators is known by their typographical extravagance, always with a psychedelic work and unique humor. Their work has been drawing attention all over the world. In their mural, we can read that music is an “invisible beast”. This mural doesn’t make anyone indifferent, thanks to its powerful colors and innumerous living elements, inspired by local fauna and flora.&nbsp;</div>

<div>Fintan Magee is known for his large-scale murals, that mix surreal and figurative images, deeply related to the urban environment. His care, technical skill and progressive approach to painting has been setting his reputation as one of the main Street Art and Contemporary Muralism figures worldwide. His mural “Head in the Clouds” spreads the message on how life can be tough to young people that live far away from big cities and better life opportunities.</div>

<div>The argentine Bosoletti developed his interest in classical art and supports his work in current symbolisms, human representations and a strong visual appeal. The mural “Abandonment” represents the refugee’s crisis, a sensitive topic nowadays.</div>

Hazul

<div>This self-learning artist from Porto presents us an interesting bestiary: snakes that look like birds from paradise, proto shamanic figures, creatures from another galaxy and other dimensions. What inspires Hazul is oriental influences and deepest civilizations. In this urban creation, his results emerge in an unexpected way, like almost symbolic images, that reminds us of a gothic or romantic tradition, hermetic, strong and memorable.</div>

<div>The argentine Bosoletti developed his interest in classical art and supports his work in current symbolisms, human representations and a strong visual appeal. His murals are serene, charming and imply an awakening of consciousness to current social problems.</div>

<div>Known for creating art from garbage and considered by “Street Art News” one of the best urban artists of the world, Bordallo II draws attention to consumerism and excessive litter. In his artistic installation, that represents a species from our region, the “Guarda-Rios”, he used garbage that was collected in this area.&nbsp;</div>
