<div>The Vertigo Graffiti crew from Bogota got invited by the Colombian embassy to paint an iconic mural at the public library entrance.<br>During 8 days 4 street artists from Colombia visited the district of Merksem (Antwerp) in order to execute an artistic mural. The artwork has more than 150 square meters of surface and represents the image of an old man and a little kid looking at a blue sky framed by a window. The objective of the message is to underline the urgency of the reinforcement of the conversation among separated generations.<br>The collective of Colombian artists (Vertigo Graffiti) was founded 10 years ago and they have painted several big murals in the most important cities of Colombia.<br>This project was supported by the embassy of Colombia in order to create different representations of the Colombian people abroad connected with a positive message: Colombian as creators.<br>The artistic names of the artists are cazdos, zas, ecks and yurika<br><br>created in april 2018</div>

<div>During their roadtrip tor Upfest in Bristol the <a href="https://urbanskills.de/">Urbanskills</a> crew were passing Antwerp,&nbsp; asking if Street Art Antwerp couldn't fix a wall.<br>Lucky enough a local offered his wall some weeks before and one thing led to the other.<br>The crew landed around midday and finished this wall in the early evening, although having an official (signed) permission somebody called the police on them.<br>But in the end all people living around loved the new colors in Merksem&nbsp;<br><br></div>

<div>Klaas Lageweg an visual artist from Groningen (NL) was passing through Antwerp on his way to Paris to deliver one of his paintings, so he asked Street Art Antwerp for a spot.<br>A local restaurant donated their back entrance, an old wooden gate, so the staff could enjoy a more colorful view when taking a break during their shift.<br>Klaas left one of his typical birds painting a cheerfull Pelican.</div>

<div>On the parking lot of a small print shop in Merksem, a district in the north of Antwerp you'll find a streetart treasure.<br>The owner likes is a big street art fan and decided to invite some artist on his walls, the only requirement was to stay 'cool'<br><br>March 2016<br>After a long winter in 2016 Joachim &amp; co thought it was enough and made this awesome collab.<br>Dutch streetartists Oxalien and the infamous KBTR came to town and painted this amazing winter themed piece.<br>You'll see a Giant KBTR (midget) pushing away winter.&nbsp;<br>The fact the infamous KBTR collaborated on this one is special cause he rarely leaves his hometown Utrecht (Netherlands).<br><br>July 2016<br><br>Smok came and painted a giant polar bear showing off his skills once again.<br><br>September 2016<br>After his work at Meeting of Styles Marc the owner invited Vÿrus to add something cool to the wall and Maria the ice princess appeared.<br><br>Stay tuned on this location, because more art wil appear here ...</div>

<div>A crown on my head, I have achieved what I have hunted for. I am a king among pretenders! Look at what I have done! Behold my status, you will fear my apparatus!”<br><br>BLIND — A new piece in Antwerp, Belgium. Inspired by the pitfalls of new found succes and ego.&nbsp;<br><br>The crown represents success. It being made out of paper signifies how trivial such pursuits are. In the center of the subjects head, the letter I, the only thing he thinks about, I, I, I. The subject, blinded by his own obsessions is just like the viewer unable to see the outside world that spells B-L-I-N-D, with the B L N D painted in white on a light blue sky. On location the subject is with his back to all the other pieces as a symbol to how self-obsession gives us a false sense of superiority.<br><br>mArk Some 2017 june&nbsp;</div>

<div>Begin 2017 HNRX contacted Streetart Antwerp and asked for help. He was planning to come to Antwerp and was in need for some walls.<br>We first provided a small one near the Cool Wall in Merksem, but we managed to get him this one. A wall detoriated with tags was in need for some fresh art.<br>Fresh art in form of a Giant shrimp.<br><br>(Februari 3017)</div>

<div>The sleeper is a portrait of a worker who is back home from work, he worked so hard that he is exhausted and asleep in the subway.
<br>The work fits into the series of walls with the theme "perfect moments".
<br>It is the perfect moment. This is the perfect moment for him to take a rest.
<br>The&nbsp; fragmeneted work is a double layer: of course he prefers to lie on his own couch or bed. But despite that, he looks peaceful. It stands for the thought of hard work and it does not matter where you sleep.
<br>Everyone consists of small particles from which we are made up, these fragments make who we are as a person. It is a special part of humanity.
<br><br>The neighbourhood was so happy with this new artwork in their street they organised a little inauguration ceremony to celebate it. A special moment where the artist could tell his story.</div>

<div>Nils came to Merksem for the 2nd year in a row painting his largest mural in Europe yet.<br>Recently adding color to his work he painted this giant hand submersing a flower.<br>This block is home to many people who have lesser chances and this work brings some extra color in their life.<br>Nils based himself on a photograph of his girlfriend.</div>

<div>This wall was part of a project to beautify the neigbourhood. Smates prepared 2 designs and the locals voted for a flock of swans flying away. There used to be a old farm here called " 't Swaentje (translated as little swan) that gave its name to the street Zwaantjeslei, so the choice of swans was petty obvious.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;It was actually the very first official street art project in Merksem<br><br></div>

<div>Probably the last wall of 2017, HNRX painted this one before going home.<br>In his usual abstract style he depicted some objects we know from everyday life.<br>People still keep wondering what they need to read😉<br><br>December 2017</div>
