Nomad Clan104. Nomad ClanNomad Clan is the collective of Cbloxx and AYLO, an internationally-acclaimed, street art muralist duo with bases in Los Angles U.S.A and the north of England. The power and pathos in their muralism showcase both the craft and social awareness of cultural flux for which they are known. Although primarily recognized for their iconic monumental street murals globally they are no stranger to installations and studio based works. Through years of collaboration Nomad Clan have fine tuned their artistic fusion that delivers an unmistakable style. Each mural has a strong significance to the environment it sits in. The main focus of the work is to proudly celebrate local history, folklore and heritage but on a deeper level often contains the socioeconomic issues affecting the area, for example the demise of the fishing industry, environmental awareness, the plight of refugees & migration, closures of mills and lack of jobs, inner city social deprivation and other politicized topics. NC's extensive muralism has given them insight into less publicized global issues, whether out in the desert wastelands of California exploring largely abandoned towns, running creative projects in Flint during the water crisis or working out in refugee camps in Calais, each experience creeps into studio work and muralism alike and with this fusion of past and present the viewer is invited to explore, compare and contrast. Nomad Clan have been noted as 'One of street art’s finest duos' by Widewalls magazine the world's largest street art online publication, as well as 'Street arts hottest UK talent' by Global Street Art and pegged as one of the top 5 street artist in the world by The Guardian NewsPaper.
Graffik Paint107. Graffik PaintHaving a reading disorder, dyslexia did not help Geoff Filmer in his early schooling at Tharwa village south of Canberra and later at Chisholm High School and Tuggeranong College. Yet it has enriched his artistic journey, When he was aged 8, in bed with appendicitis, his father gave Geoff a flower to draw. Geoff replicated it with precision, revealing his artistic talent. Leaving school Geoff worked in several fields, including as a diesel mechanic and setting out instruments for seismic surveys for the Australian Geological Survey organisation. Art resurfaced in his life when he began painting on legal art spaces throughout Canberra, perfecting his technique and turning people’s eyes. Jaws Automotive, Phillip, had a big wall that kept getting tagged, which he turned into a stunning piece featuring great white sharks. Auto Talk around the corner saw it and enlisted the talented painter. Since those early days Geoff has gone on to create many Canberra iconic murals including the Floriade mural at stage 88, red Cross fish tank and Hindmarsh water tank. From there, the business has grown. This has progressed to where Geoff now has worked for over 15 years as Graffik Paint, with a love of working in different styles from stencils to freehand and brush to spray, the joy is to use technique that will bring the artwork location to life, whether it’s a commercial or private residence mural big or small, whatever you’re looking for let Graffik paint collaborate and make great art for your space. Any113. AnyANY è l'acronimo di About New York. Un percorso in continua evoluzione ANY is an acronym for About New York. His name embodies a passionate love for the Big Apple that permeates many of his works, but also a desire to be "anyone," blending in with the crowd. Educated at the Pietro Selvatico Art Institute in Padua, he subsequently continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and the School of Architecture in Venice, courses that influenced his aesthetic and compositional sensibility. After a period away from painting, he began to express himself through photography, using negatives fused with pictorial techniques, silkscreens, cyanotypes, and other techniques. He then moved on to photography alone. However, it was precisely during his frequent stays in New York that he rekindled his artistic language, returning to the charcoal technique, now enriched with bold incursions of color. The immersive experience in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, famous for its street art scene, marked a turning point. Fascinated by the work of masters like Eduardo Kobra, Any chooses to "take his art to the streets," integrating the use of stencils to reinterpret his pictorial production with an urban twist. It was in New York that he created a billboard campaign and several works in the famous Freeman Alley on Manhattan's Lower East Side. His works often originate from personal photographs, transformed into visual narratives that range from urban views to emotionally intense portraits. Through these images, the artist's gaze alternates between the vastness of the metropolis and the intimacy of individual stories, capturing fragments of humanity in everyday life. In recent years, his research has focused on civil and social issues, which he addresses with visual sensitivity and critical thinking, making New York City not only a muse but also a universal metaphor for the complexities of contemporary life. Broad glances that encompass a city and its symbols before being captured by a detail and suddenly focusing on people and their lives, told by a moment, an emotion. An ever-evolving journey
Marcus Wedman119. Marcus Wedman“Spray painting isn’t easy, but anyone can do it—as long as you enjoy it.” Marcus Wedman lives in Drachten, in the north of the Netherlands, and has been working with spray cans for over 35 years. With a strong passion for drawing and painting, he was introduced to spray painting in the early 1990s, partly through friends who were active in the graffiti scene. He soon discovered that graffiti goes far beyond merely putting swear words on walls: well-executed graffiti can even help prevent vandalism. In addition to working with spray cans, he also became familiar with airbrushing—a small paint gun that produces similar results on a smaller scale. The combination of these two techniques led to the creation of photorealistic work. After completing his bachelor’s degree in Art & Design at the Northern University of Applied Sciences in Leeuwarden, Marcus Wedman worked as a full-time graphic designer and DTP specialist at the renowned advertising agency Norddesign in Drachten (1998–2013). The experience he gained there is reflected in his graffiti work. Conversely, the knowledge of typography, geometry, and color he acquired in the graffiti scene has proven invaluable in the world of graphic design. In 2011, he registered with the Chamber of Commerce as a self-employed professional. Since July 2013, he has been working fully independently as a special paint artist and graphic designer. Today, in his workshop, he experiments with new techniques which, in combination with spray cans, airbrush, and brush, result in surprising and striking imagery. The outcome is a unique blend of graffiti, photorealism, and expressive extravagance.
Lily Brick120. Lily BrickHi! I'm Lily Brick, and I was born in Lleida 32 years ago. From a very young age, I began to show an interest in design and the arts in general, and this led me to study Advertising Graphic Design. For five years, I worked as a designer for different companies and organizations, developing my skills and learning about other areas in the design world. With some experience gained, I became head of a printing company, managing staff, resources and directly coordinating its design area. After two years at the head of this printing company, I began to explore new ways of channelling my artistic concerns and, during that search, I discovered spray. Within a short time, my hobby became a profession and commissions began to arrive. My first works were in Lleida’s public gardens and in the outskirts of the city, where I spent a few weeks developing my hobby. The discovery of these works by curious observers in the midst of rural places led to the beginning of my trade and my first commissioned mural. Images of my works quickly spread on social media and soon went viral, which made my art begin to become widely known. 8 years later, street art has become my trade. More than 300 works in very different parts of the world bear Lily's signature. Among the most notable pieces, it is worth mentioning the large murals that I've made in Penelles, Juncosa, Granadella, Alcarràs, Tremp, El Cogul, and also numerous other muralism projects in Barcelona, Martorell, Ferrol, Malaga or Murcia, where I exhibited at the Museum of contemporary art (MUBAM). I have the mark of having made the largest mural in Spain, made by a single woman. A brand that I recently surpassed again with the mural made in Nou Transport (Lleida), with a surface area of 750 m². In 2017, I began the internationalization of my career in France, with my participation in the Hotel 128 project. Subsequently, multiple projects emerged, among which I highlight murals in Gambia, at the European Space Agency in Holland, at the Artscape Festival event in Sweden, Techfest IIT Bombay in India, at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg (Germany), The Hague Street Art Festival in Holland and lately in Happy Walls Festival in Saïdia (Morocco). With my murals, I work trying to make visible empowered women with strong and intense gaze. Since my introduction to the world of street art, the main techniques that I have developed have been spray, acrylic paint, brushes and rollers.
