This mural tells the story of "the legend of the cat-cup". It is a centuries old local fairytale, about a ship that sailed into the city of which all of the sailors changed into cats as soon as they set foot ashore. They were dancing and jumping and blocked the way of a group of farmers from Delft that wanted to pass. They could only pass if they would take a sip from a silver cup. When one of the farmers takes the cup in his hands and yells "in the name of God!", all cats quickly jump back on board and the ships sets sail. Only the mysterious cup was left behind.

Deze muurschildering verteld het verhaal van "de legende van de Kattenbeker". Het is een eeuwenoud volksverhaal over een schip dat eens de haven invoer, waarvan de bemanning in katten veranderde zodra ze aan wal gingen. Ze dansten en sprongen in het rond en lieten een groep Delftse boeren alleen passeren als ze een slok uit een zilveren beker namen. Toen een van de boeren de beker in zijn handen nam en "in Gods naam!" riep, sprongen alle katten terug een boord en vertrok het schip. Het enige dat achter bleef was, was de mysterieuze beker.

This mural tells a lot about the history of the city of Vlaardingen. It was known as a port for fishing of herring for a long time, hence the herrings and the old ships. The lady is dressed in the old local dress, the kind a working class woman in the fishing industry would have worn.

This painting was initiated by the owner of the house. She asked the artists if they could design something for the side of her home. The project was funded by applying for a civilian initiative grant.

Deze muurschildering verteld veel over de geschiedenis van Vlaardingen. De stad stond lange tijd bekend als visserijhaven voor de vangst van haring, vandaar de haringen en historische schepen. De vrouw is gekleed in traditionele klederdracht van de stad, het type dat een vrouw uit de werkende klasse gedragen zou hebben.

De schildering is het idee van de eigenaresse van de woning. Ze vroeg de kunstenaars een ontwerp te maken voor haar huis. Het project is gefinancierd door een subsidie aan te vragen volgens een burgerinitiatief.
