Hazul (born in 1981) is a self-taught artist from Porto, a city whose historic streets provided the fertile ground for his artistic development.

His first interventions in public space date back to 1997, under the pseudonym Pong 02, when he discovered the Hip-Hop movement, and graffiti in particular.

Lettering became the central focus of his work for several years before he began exploring new artistic directions.

In 2008, after refining his visual language and establishing a clear artistic vision, he adopted his current name, Hazul.

His work is now distinguished by a stronger dreamlike and symbolic dimension, consistently exploring the relationships between the organic and the geometric, living beings and objects, as well as the material and the ethereal.

The strength of his lines brings the drawings to the forefront against carefully structured flat areas of color, sometimes appearing almost suspended in space.

His imagery reveals influences from primitive art, ancient civilizations, and tribal cultures, resulting in a visual language that is both universal and timeless.

The street remains his primary space for artistic expression, creating an ongoing dialogue between the contemporary world and the ancestral one.

Beyond walls, he also works on canvas, paper, and found objects, using them as additional mediums for his artistic expression.

Ses premières interventions dans l'espace public remontent à 1997, sous le pseudonyme de Pong 02, période où il découvre le mouvement hip-hop et plus particulièrement le graffiti.

Ses créations se caractérisent désormais par une dimension onirique et symbolique plus marquée, interrogeant de manière récurrente les relations entre l'organique et le géométrique, entre les êtres et les objets, ou encore entre le matériel et l'éthéré.

La force des lignes fait ressortir le dessin sur des aplats ordonnés, parfois comme suspendus.

On y perçoit des influences issues de l'art primitif, des civilisations anciennes et des peuples tribaux, aboutissant à un langage universel et intemporel.

Son œuvre continue d'utiliser la rue comme principal espace d'expression, instaurant un dialogue constant entre le monde contemporain et le monde ancestral.

Outre les murs, il utilise également des toiles, du papier et des objets trouvés comme moyens d'expression.
