The mural (8m x 5m) took me 4 days to complete, working between 9 and 11 hours a day—so it felt like a small marathon. It is located in the Villa Obrera neighborhood in Tafí Viejo, a town with a significant railway past, near San Miguel de Tucumán. Although the industry has declined, that legacy remains very present in the area, almost as if it runs through the veins of the people.
I represented that connection through the arms of a working person, whose veins form train tracks. The figure’s gesture is one of offering, holding a bouquet of pink lapacho, a native tree deeply cherished by the town’s residents. The message I wanted to convey is that, although the past cannot return, a resilient and determined people will always manage to make something new and beautiful bloom.
