The mural in the pedestrian underpass at Ludwigshafen-Rheingönheim railway station combines detailed animal portraits, a woodland landscape and large-scale graffiti lettering in a continuous composition.
The stairwell features a prominent bear’s head, rendered in warm shades of brown and ochre. On the opposite wall, an orange-brown squirrel with a bushy tail holds a nut between its front paws. A bison, visible at the left of the overall composition, is also part of the artwork.
Together, the motifs evoke a natural environment populated by woodland animals, trees and plants. The contrast between realistic animal painting, illustrative imagery and abstract graffiti lettering creates a varied visual experience.
The work was created by Mannheim-based artists Svlech and Dread as part of the artistic redevelopment of the railway station area initiated by Deutsche Bahn.
