The artwork at Ludwigshafen central station is located at the access stairs to platforms 3 and 4. It was probably created as part of the “Meeting of Styles” 2020, during which the station underpass was enhanced with large-scale murals. The artwork shows butterflies in various colors, which seem to accompany commuters on their way to the train. Between the butterflies, a large piece of writing can be seen.

Initiated by Deutsche Bahn, a collective of 25 artists from the region and from across half of Europe designed the extensive underpass complex at Ludwigshafen central station. Under the motto “Meeting of Styles”, the artists transformed numerous monotonous surfaces into a vibrant gallery through the power of color, in around 2,000 working hours, using approximately 400 liters of wall paint and 1,000 spray cans.
