This mural, titled "La Sabia" (3.5m x 8m), was painted as part of the "Pinta San Luis" Design and Art Program by the Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure of San Luis. The program seeks to improve public spaces through urban art, foster community bonds, promote social inclusion, and encourage communication and expression among residents.
The 4th edition focused on "El Hornero", a modest neighborhood of apartment blocks with 250 homes, positioning it as a new cultural hub in the city, showcasing its culture and breaking down prejudices.
Originally, the mural was intended as a tribute to my dear friend Anku, a tireless Mapuche activist who dedicated much of her life to fighting for land rights and decent housing for vulnerable communities in the south. Her strength and courage inspired me to portray her as a shaman making an offering to the world with her hardworking hands. It ended up being a celebration of all hardworking women who tirelessly put on a plate of food for the rest of us day after day.
The mural has won the First Prize of Radio France International–Radio Culture annual Street Art Award in 2023.
