Een wandelroute langs de werken van Mechelen Muurt 1.0
Voormalig stadskunstenaar Gijs Vanhee startte het kunstproject Mechelen Muurt, waarbij kunstenaars uit binnen- en buitenland gebouwen onder handen nemen met verfkwast en spuitbus.
In 2014 en 2015 ontving de stad enkele grote namen uit de street art scene, waaronder Smates, Mark Goss, Milu Correch en Dzia.
De eerste fase van Mechelen Muurt werd voltooid door Gijs Vanhee zelf. Zijn muurschildering 'The Gift' drukt symbolisch het project uit: een gebaar om de straat terug te geven aan de mensen die er wonen, door koude kale muren aan te pakken met kleur en verhaal.

A walking route along the works of Mechelen Muurt 1.0
Former city artist Gijs Vanhee started the art project Mechelen Muurt, in which artists from home and abroad take buildings in hand with paintbrush and spray can.
In 2014 and 2015, the city welcomed some big names from the street art scene, including Smates, Mark Goss, Milu Correch and Dzia.
The first phase of Mechelen Muurt was completed by Gijs Vanhee himself. His mural ‘The Gift’ symbolically expresses the project: a gesture to give the street back to the people who live there, by tackling cold bare walls with colour and story.
