Zwager: “I already painted Dutch and Polish paintings, so decided to add a Finnish masterwork to my collection as a reference to me living there for a year during exchange 7 years ago.
This is my favourite Finnish painting, the contrast between a beautiful lake, just like the one I lived by, the blinding sun, and a child's funeral is just striking and thought provoking. Every time I stare at it, I can ponder about my life there and the time that has passed.”

The Finnish painting depicting a child's funeral by Albert Edelfelt (1854-1905) is called “Carrying the Child's Coffin” (also known as “The Child's Body Eve”). It was completed around 1879, and is a powerful, realistic work depicting a sombre scene of adults solemnly carrying a child's body, a classic example of Finnish realist art.

Zwager: “Ik had al Nederlandse en Poolse schilderijen geschilderd, dus besloot ik een Fins meesterwerk aan mijn collectie toe te voegen als verwijzing naar het feit dat ik daar zeven jaar geleden een jaar heb gewoond tijdens een uitwisseling.
Dit is mijn favoriete Finse schilderij. Het contrast tussen een prachtig meer, net als het meer waar ik toen woonde, de verblindende zon en de begrafenis van een kind is gewoonweg indrukwekkend en zet aan tot nadenken. Elke keer als ik ernaar staar, denk ik na over mijn leven daar en de tijd die is verstreken.”

Het Finse schilderij over de kinderbegrafenis van Albert Edelfelt (1854-1905) heet "De kist van het kind overbrengen" (ook wel "The Child's Body Eve" genoemd
