Inspired by the story of Nick, this artist made this symbolic image. The words come from a poem by Lisa Koo Gautama. Here is what the artist has to say about it:
 
"The painting is full of metaphors as it depicts the personal story of Nick.
The painting shows a cracked vase of flowers, some withered, some blooming. This is a metaphor for the fact that everyone's life consists of negative and positive experiences. The vase is cracked, but holding up. On the left, two flowers lie in a cross over each other, metaphor for 'drawing a cross over the past', or personally for Nick, a memory to the friends he lost. From the right side comes the light, there is the future. The flowers are jasmine flowers. This flower represents hope, love, positivity and strength.
Nick has a very meaningful organization where they support youngsters in hard times with buddy coaching, Rebron vzw."
