MOH ONE was already part of the first festival in 2013 and designed a façade at Ellerstraße 110. A few years later, it was painted over with advertising without any permission and then redesigned. MOH's famous wooden horse fell victim to this procedure. As part of this year's festival, we would like to invite the Düsseldorf artist MOH ONE once again to design a new façade for the city! The artist, who was born in Essen and lives in Düsseldorf, began painting graffiti in 1989.
Since 1997, he has also been active in the graphic profession. In addition, he repeatedly uses a wide variety of techniques; his main focus is on collage. In addition to classic style writing, which still characterises his work today, he has now increasingly devoted himself to the old art of etching - and as with most things he creates, he likes to incorporate typical graffiti elements into his work.
For MOH ONE, the classic graffiti scene is often neglected in today's street art. The throw up as well as the BBoy, which can sometimes be recognized as the artist himself in his clothing, represent classic elements of that scene and are at the same time a typical stylistic and expressive means of the artist.
The paper letters, threaded on a string, represent a childlike and playful addition to adulthood, but refer to a highly topical topic with the statement "Nobody move, nobody get hurt" - the grammatical error deliberately taken from a quote by the musician Yellowman.
Raising your hands and keeping still is not only understood here as a peaceful gesture, but also as a gesture of standstill, which can prevent change and improvement.
