Description

A pale, almost mask-like face with large, dark eyes, flushed pink cheeks and a strikingly marked mouth stares directly at the viewer. This large-scale portrait by Collin van der Sluijs combines expressive painting with a delicate, drawing-like visual language.

The work is signed and dated “Collin v/d Sluys ’22”. It was created in the context of the first Festival International des Arts Urbains in Laon, held from 20 to 26 June 2022. The Dutch artist was among the international participants in the festival, which was artistically coordinated by French street artist Christian Guémy, known as C215. Alongside the works produced in public spaces, an exhibition featuring works by participating artists within the historic Abbaye Saint-Martin was also presented.
