This place is an open home with a thrift store, a meeting place where people can receive food support, computer help etc. The main idea: the people that work here want to create a warm and open place. And it has been here now for 60 years in this neighbourhood.

And that inspired the artist for this work: the blue heart is a symbol for many moments that our world is not a warm place for people in need. The red heart symbolizes just the opposite.

All the small images around the hearts were inspired by and made with visitors from the Open Plaats. They were made during a 2-week period when Ann Cardinael could meet the visitors and invite them to join her in the creative process.
