As quite often in latin american art, the wall is full of symbols. Yuda's work often depict portraits of everyday people, with an emphasis on labor and social history. The background includes geometric patterns, textile motifs, and people working in a factory or workshop setting, referencing Tranås’ historical textile and fur industry. And then the lamb and the apple... How many interpretations of their symbolic meaning are there? I had a very interesting chat with ChatGPT on this subject and one of the most interesting interpretations had a femeinist/contemporary approach, "The woman might also be interpreted as embodying dual roles: the nurturing, protective (toward the lamb), and the thoughtful, reflective (toward the apple). This could mirror a modern woman’s position, balancing emotion and intellect, tradition and independence."
