The East Side Gallery is the longest open-air gallery in the world and one of Berlin’s most important historical landmarks. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, 118 artists from 21 countries painted artworks on the former east side of the Wall in 1990. Their murals reflect hopes for freedom, unity, and a peaceful Europe, while also remembering life in a divided city and under dictatorship. Famous works such as the “Fraternal Kiss” and the “Trabi” attract visitors from all over the world. Today, the East Side Gallery stands as a powerful symbol of change, memory, and public art.
