Cubus Kunsthalle

The cubus kunsthalle in the inner city Sculpture Park, the Kantpark between the LehmbruckMuseum and the DKM Museum, stands for a rather unusual – in the name of empty household budget – highly topical model of cultural management. Over the course of more than twenty-five years, the initiative, sponsored by citizens and companies of Duisburg and a sponsoring association, has become a place for encounters with fine arts and culture, enriching regional cultural work and setting positive accents. More than 25,000 visitors from the Rhine-Ruhr region per year are impressively demonstrating the success of this close-to-the-citizen concept.

The exhibition program covers a wide range of attractive temporary exhibitions of mostly contemporary art by internationally and nationally renowned artists such as u.a. Otto Piene, Ulrich Erben, A.R. Penck, Winfried Gaul, Gunter Demnig, Klaus Staek, Bodo Korsig, Funny van Dannen, Bernard Woschek, John Grützke, Yongbo Zhao, Udo Scheel, Dieter Jung, Thomas Baumgärtel, where also a regular platform is offered to local artists, their works to the public to show.

In addition to the temporary exhibitions of works by contemporary artists, the cubus kunsthalle also sees one of its tasks in art education, especially for children and adolescents. On this occasion, she regularly organizes MitMach exhibitions and directs this offer to schools.

The upstairs function room offers space for podium discussions and seminars, but is also used for receptions, wedding and birthday parties.

In the subleased cafe museum, the artistic impressions gained can be optimally processed with culinary delights.
