The Abridged Wall of Hope 2025 theme "Mind Matters"

"From Body to Mind: A Journey of Exploration and Expression"

In 2023 and 2024, focus was on the body-the physical form that carries our stories, struggles, and rights. Themes such as bodily autonomy, health, and discrimination were explored, addressing issues like domestic violence, transgender rights, sexual harassment, and other fundamental rights. At the same time, women's accomplishments, resilience, and agency in shaping their own lives were celebrated. The body, in both its vulnerability and resilience, became a powerful symbol of the ongoing pursuit of women's rights and human dignity. Through collective advocacy, the vital importance of freedom, safety, and agency in the physical realm were emphasized.

In 2025, this conversation will expand, shifting our gaze inward to the mind. If the body is where we experience the physical world, the mind is where we process, reflect, and act. This year the "Abridged Wall of Hope" will focus on the theme "Mind Matters" and the creative works presented will explore how the mental, emotional, and intellectual landscapes shape our lives and our rights. Just as the body can endure and be violated, so too can the mind be challenged, oppressed, or liberated. The theme opens the door to an even broader array of topics-mental health, intellectual freedom, emotional resilience, psychological abuse, discrimination, and the quest for mental well-being across all aspects of life.

Each creative participant will interpret the theme as they see fit, reflecting the vast complexity of the human experience.

"Mind Matters" offers an expansive platform for artistic expression, highlighting themes such as the struggle for mental health care, emotional autonomy, trauma, freedom of thought and expression, and the importance of empathy and solidarity. This theme will allow for raw, diverse, and deeply personal reflections on the mind's role in shaping our lives, similarly to how the body shapes our presence in the world.

Just as the body cannot be separated from the mind, the advocacy for human rights cannot be fully realized without addressing the mental and emotional dimensions of the human experience.

Continuing the dialogue through the "Abridged Wall of Hope" in 2025 will bridge the gap between the visible and the invisible, between physical suffering and mental struggles, inviting reflection on how both mind and body must be protected in the pursuit of human dignity.
