The mural not only beautifies the building's facade, but also, thanks to the use of photocatalytic paint, contributes to air purification when its surface comes into contact with it. The work was created as part of an eco-mural competition announced by Western Pomerania. The event attracted a lot of interest, with as many as 87 projects submitted. In the first stage, residents of the region cast their votes in an online poll, and then the works were evaluated by a competition committee.

The hero of the mural, Gacek the cat, was a free-roaming resident of downtown Szczecin, on Kaszubska Street, for many years. This black and white, elegant and mysterious cat had an extraordinary charisma that attracted people. He spent most of his time in a wooden booth prepared especially for him.

He gained recognition in 2020 when a video featuring him went viral on the internet. Since then, Gacek has become one of Szczecin's most famous attractions, with many tourists coming to the city just to see the famous cat from Kaszubska Street. He currently lives with his family of three and other cats, where, after completing his weight loss treatment, he leads a peaceful, retired life.
