This housing complex and compound was built by German immigrant workers in 1910, and sold to French-Canadian developers. In the 20th century, heads of households included Yiddish-speaking Russians, Greeks, German-speaking Poles, and Germans, as well as native-born and French Canadian residents. Nearly all of them were employees of paper, woolen, or thread mills.

“If you tend to a flower, it will bloom
No matter how many weeds surround it”
This is for the people who continue to get up day after day and press forward in spite of all the pain and suffering, and how sometimes it can actually be something beautiful when you are able to recognize it in another, and give them some relief in knowing that they are not alone.
In an area that has seen its own hardships and continues to press forward, we recognized this kind of love, devoting time and energy to help those who are struggling.
