After the works by Dimitri Taxis and Chekos Art, a new mural by Millo has been unveiled as part of Oh My Gad – Gallipoli Art District, an initiative aimed at revitalizing the outskirts of Gallipoli.
The project, supported by the Puglia Region in collaboration with 167/B Street (Lecce) and Macaria (Gallipoli), envisions five large murals along Viale Europa and Via Firenze. The first two, by Taxis and Chekos, were completed in June. Now Millo has added “A chorèsci tze cinùria zoì” (The Dance of Rebirth), a title written in Grico, the Greek-influenced local dialect of southern Italy.
The mural clearly references the traditional Salento dance, the Taranta: it depicts a young woman circling an agave plant to its rhythm. As Millo explains, “The agave blooms only once in its lifetime, marking both its death and its rebirth through new plants growing from its roots.”
Created near a neglected city park, the work serves as a symbol and invitation. For Millo, it’s about giving the area a sign of hope and showing the possibility of renewal.
