INWARD – National Observatory on Urban Creativity curated and coordinated the creation of the large-scale mural painting "Primavera reggina", an artistic intervention that contributes to the revitalization plan for the Parco Primavera residential complex. The work is signed by Argentine artist Agus Rúcula, who vividly and sensitively conveyed the profound essence of spring as a season of rebirth, regeneration, and beauty.
On the left side of the mural, a rich selection of spring plants – including broom, jasmine, mallow, sage, lavender, and St. John’s wort (known as the “flower of St. John”) – evokes the ancient tradition, also rooted in Calabria, of St. John’s Water: a regenerating ritual involving the overnight soaking of these herbs between June 23rd and 24th, at the height of spring. On the right side, a female figure holds a basin full of water; her face, adorned with small white flowers, becomes a symbol and personification of Spring itself, captured in the act of absorbing its benefits. A message that powerfully expresses the full physiological and symbolic force of regeneration.
Warmly received and actively embraced by the local community, the artwork was promoted by the City of Reggio Calabria.
