This mural is my feature wall on the side of Naked Foods on Lonsdale street in Braddon ACT. Painted for Surface festival in partnership with the ACT Sustainability initiative, No Waste, this concept was inspired by physical and cultural growth created from reusing coffee grounds and coffee cups. Cafes from the local area were donating their used grounds to help grow vegetables like mushrooms, and when I delved into the research happening right now in Canberra at the CSIRO I found that mushrooms and mycelium were showing incredible uses like the ability to assist in cleaning up oil spills! I wanted this mural design to show the mushrooms as heroic, awe inspiring and larger than life. The Keep Cup logo has been changed to say “keep up” with the slogan on either side “INSPIRE GROWTH” having a double meaning.
