With his poetic and dreamlike language, Tony Gallo transforms an electricity cabin into a scene of suspended waiting, where two characters – gentle, imaginative creatures – face each other in silence, in an encounter that has not yet taken place but is filled with promise.
On a deep red background, the female figure emerges: turquoise hair, striped costume, animal ears, and a flag bearing a heart. Opposite her stands a male character masked as a bird, hiding a bouquet of flowers behind his back. They are two souls in waiting, symbols of a love that is sought, dreamed of, anticipated.
The title of the work, “I Was Waiting for You”, says it all: sooner or later the right moment will arrive to be together and to realise a shared dream. Because dreams are desires, and to desire together is already a way of dreaming.
On the small adjacent module, Tony Gallo adds a domestic landscape: a stylised pastel-coloured little house that suggests a possible after – a serene refuge, the place where that dream can finally come true.
Through his fairytale-like, symbolic style, Tony Gallo reminds us that waiting can be an act of love, that shared dreams have the power to bring people closer, and that even a technical cabin can become a stage for visual poetry.
