This mural in Bairro Horizonte (the old Bairro da Curraleira) in Lisbon, is all about the memories of the neighborhood. It’s inspired by an old picture taken when the neighborhood was made up of shacks and self made homes. There was a big fire in the 60s that destroyed a big part of the place and eventually new houses were build and the living permits started being regulated. 

The mural was based on an old picture of how the neighborhood used to be, which was voted on by the people - it was truly wonderful to get to know the population and hear their stories
