The five galloping horses act as a nod to the working horses that once serviced the local community, as well as the film Phar Lap which was filmed in the local laneways of Camperdown.
The historic Camperdown stables were located at this site — the wooden gates to the stables can still be seen, forming part of the neighbouring property's wooden fence.
The colours in the work reference the heritage of the area. The dusty olive emulates the greens of the gum leaves, brown echoes the wooden fence of the stables, rusty bronze nods to the ironworks, horseshoes, and iron handle to the stables. Lastly, soft pinks and bold peaches bring forth old time roses and highlights.
Shadows of turpentine flowers blow across the work — remembering the old turpentine forest.
