The digitization of our reality is leading to increasingly thinner social connections, fewer reasons to go outside, and less face-to-face communication. Think about how many of your friends and acquaintances you can remember by name and patronymic. We navigate the city using our phone's GPS, and even in stores, we can pay for our purchases at self-checkout kiosks.
The central market has turned into a mall, small shops have become shopping centers, and we may not even encounter any vendors. Automation, optimization, and digitization are increasingly shaping our behavior in the city.
The artwork depicts a saleswoman in the midst of her loading process; the system has crashed, and her image fails to load. The loader in the center of the image shows the loading process, which has effectively frozen and is stuck in place. On the old scales, the needle is stuck at the mark of 450—this is, of course, a reference to the anniversary year, a milestone after which the city will continue to change. And the apples, a simple symbol of fertility and abundance, are of the variety called "Bashkir Beauty."
The boundaries of our perception have blurred to the point where we increasingly desire to bring more reality and liveliness back into our lives. It is clear that our lives will continue to change under the pressure of technology and progress, but we should value the warmth of genuine communication even more
