📅 Status: In Progress (July 2025)
🎭 Part of: Cairns Street Art Festival – August 2025

Tucked away in vibrant Bank Lane, this large-scale mural-in-progress is the work of Katira (Katherine Gailer) and Lucy Lucy—two Melbourne-based artists known for their striking, feminine-centred murals and collaborative exhibitions.

Their latest piece bursts with colour, life, and movement. A serene woman, dressed in flowing purple garments and a bold geometric headwrap, dances through a lush tropical dreamscape. She’s surrounded by large green leaves, vibrant red heliconias, and a soft golden sky that radiates warmth and vitality. A small butterfly flutters beside her outstretched hand—an emblem of transformation and delicate connection to nature.

The mural reflects Katira and Lucy Lucy’s signature style: a powerful celebration of feminine energy, cultural exchange, nature, and sisterhood. Though the work is still unfolding, its presence already breathes life into Bank Lane—offering passersby a glimpse of what’s to come at the Cairns Street Art Festival later this August.

🛠️ Notes:

  • The artwork is still being painted, with scaffolding and fencing around the site.

  • Completion is expected by late August 2025 in time for the festival launch.
