This mural is painted on the wall of the depot of the City of Liege. This wall was chosen for its technical accessibility and high visibility, as well as for its location of choice, since it runs along a busy road, near the Guillemins train station.
The French artist Honet has constructed the mural in the style of a coat of arms where each element can be interpreted either in isolation or as a whole, thus evoking the medieval past of the city. The content of the fresco thus borrows its vocabulary in medieval times and the world of graffiti. The work is full of graphic references related to the culture of Liège. Its colors evoke the Belgian flag and the tumultuous history of Belgium.
Honet is an artist with multiple personalities: graffiti artist for a quarter of a century, worldly illustrator for Prada, Lacoste or Louis Vuitton, collector of ephemeral moments and archivist of urban curiosities.
The artist rules out completely the idea of introducing sensu stricto graffiti in the exhibition area. So when he's not collaborating with a brand or showing his paintings in an art gallery; he considers graffiti in his own way, that is to say like a practice: an 'act' and not just its result.
