Description

The mural depicts Leshy, the protective spirit of the forest from ancient Slavic mythology. As the guardian of the forest and its animals, Leshy symbolizes the deep bond between humans and nature. His presence in the mural serves as a reminder of our responsibility to respect and protect the environment. The artwork reflects contemporary ecological issues, portraying Leshy as a watchful guardian reacting to the destruction of his forest, a powerful warning against the devastation of ecosystems.

This mural is Malicki's second large-scale piece on this wall. His earlier mural, “Worry,” depicted an elderly man expressing concern over the disappearing sparrow population in urban areas, but it was lost during a sudden facade renovation in 2019. “Leshy” continues Malicki's recurring theme of nature conservation, a central focus in his art.

Marcin Malik Malicki is well-known for his graffiti and mural projects in Bielsko-Biała and for participating in various street art festivals across Poland. His work often reflects local history, culture, and environmental themes.

The “Leshy” mural was created as part of the 9th edition of the “oBBraz miasta” project, organized by Bielska Gallery BWA and the Bielska Gallery Foundation.
