"Mexico-Hiroshima Friendship Mural: For a World Without Nuclear Weapons"
Eighty years after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, this mural aims to be a tribute to all the victims and survivors, as well as a reminder of humanity's struggle for a world without nuclear weapons, as the threat remains. The central figures of Senji Yamazaki, Ichiro Moritaki, and Alfonso García Robles are pillars of this activism and Nobel Peace Prize laureates. The presence of Sasaki Sadako is a message of hope and welcomes airport travelers.
This project was conceived and managed by the brothers Minoru and Ichiro Gutierrez and was realized thanks to the support of the sponsors. Thanks to the Hiroshima Prefecture and the Guanajuato government.
Special thanks to all the survivors and descendants who supported us, shared their stories, their vision, and, above all, instilled in us their love for life. Meeting them has been an honor, and we have learned a great deal.
We hope this mural serves as a reminder that peace is built every day and that there is still a long way to go to achieve a world without nuclear weapons.
