Description

The mural's composition draws on both the medieval style of chronicle illustrations and the horizontal layout of contemporary banknotes. Since Gallus Anonymus's work consists of three parts, the illustration is also divided into three sections (inspired by Parts I and II of the "Polish Chronicle").

Image I – the wedding of Mieszko I and Dobrawa – depicts a significant moment in Polish history: the marriage of the Polish ruler to a Czech princess, which initiated the Christianization of our country and strengthened the young country's position in Europe.

Image II – "The Golden Age" of Bolesław the Brave – depicts Bolesław the Brave, still a prince, seated on horseback during the dynamic development of the young state. The composition includes an element related to Poznań – an early Piast stronghold with the outline of the Palatium located on Ostrów Tumski. This emphasizes the city's importance in the early days of Polish statehood. In the background is the juvenile Mieszko II Lambert – the future heir to the throne after Bolesław the Brave. Frame III - Coronation of Bolesław the Brave - The focal point of the mural is the moment of the coronation in 1025 - the symbolic end of the life and reign of the first king of Poland.
