Mathias Köhler aka LOOMIT, born in Celle in 1968, is probably one of the most famous graffiti artists of our time. He discovered his passion for graffiti at the age of fourteen. Initially a hobby, later an obsession. In 1983 at the age of fifteen, Mathias Köhler sprayed his first graffiti on the water tower in Buchloe, graffiti was still in the beginning phase at that time in Germany. Two years later, under the pseudonym Cryptic2, he and six other sprayers painted Germany’s first Whole Train, which would go down in European graffiti history as the “Geltendorfer Train”. In addition to excursions into filigree canvas works, the graffiti artist is known for his 3D lettering, which he learned from none other than the New York writer legend Lakes. Today Loomit works as a freelance artist in Munich and has worked for various companies such as Opel and the Salzburg football stadium. In 2002 Loomit was awarded the Schwabing Art Prize for his work.
In 2019, he painted the wall in Mark Twain Village, for METROPOLINK.
The wall design is based on the literature of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, in the spirit of Mark Twain and in keeping with the emerging district.
