"Flotsam", Seidenweberhaus, Krefeld by Kerim Musanovic from Sarajewo, as part of the “Slk City Gallery”

The whale is one of Kerim's absolute favorite motifs!
Usually the whale symbolizes the beginning, the creation of all life on earth that we know today. There are many cultures around the globe that associate the whale with topics such as creation, birth and rebirth. Some of the other meanings associated with the whale are: awareness, emotional rebirth, understanding, rearing, standing up for a community, appreciating beauty (especially with regard to music and dance), and the importance of emotional balance.
But here we are dealing with a dying whale, which stands for the end of the environment like the setting sun and thus for the end of humanity, the drifting half-timbered house, stands for the flood disaster in the Eifel combined with our emotions. It serves as a warning to all of us that if we make the right decisions now, it will not be too late.
