One of Bristol’s most beloved murals has disappeared behind new development, but its admirers won’t have to wait long for a revival. The original artist, Jody, is teaming up with Andy Council to create a fresh interpretation just around the corner on Charlotte Street.

The new work revisits Jody’s 2018 commission for the former Florist bar—a striking image of a woman holding a vast bouquet of flowers. This time, however, the mural is twice the size and infused with Andy’s imaginative illustrations, making it the duo’s largest collaboration to date.

“It’s a remix with a twist,” Jody explained while working midway up the scaffolding overlooking the garden of Boston Tea Party. From the bottom of the wall, Jody builds his photo-realistic half, while Andy begins at the top, mapping out his intricate grid. Within days, their styles will meet in the middle, blending realism and playful illustration into one cohesive piece.

Commissioned by Urban Creation, the mural adorns the side of a building they own near Park Street—the same company behind the luxury student accommodation that now conceals Jody’s original work.

“Street art is ephemeral, but I’ve been fortunate that my pieces often last longer than expected,” Jody reflected. “This mural is a love letter to Park Street, a celebration of the area and its people. I paint across the UK, Europe, and the States, but Bristol always makes me proud to come home.”

Andy, best known for transforming buildings into fantastical creatures like triceratops and ammonites, admitted he isn’t fond of heights but perseveres with Jody’s meticulous grid system. His challenge this time: weaving Bristol’s iconic architecture into the bouquet held by Jody’s figure.

With the city’s skyline constantly evolving, Andy had no shortage of landmarks to choose from. The resulting mural promises to be not just a tribute to Park Street, but a new landmark in its own right.
