Spanish duo PichiAvo bring their signature fusion of classical sculpture and contemporary graffiti to the heart of Athens with this monumental portrait of Athena. Conceived as a self‑initiated, self‑funded project, the mural is described by the artists as a personal “offering” to the city that has shaped their visual language for more than a decade. After years of drawing from Greek mythology, they felt it was time to give something back.
The work reinterprets Athena as the protector of the city, echoing the founding myth in which she offers the olive tree to the people of Athens. Painted on Pallados Street — named after Pallas Athena — and facing the Acropolis, the mural creates a direct dialogue between ancient heritage and contemporary urban culture.
Realising the project required navigating the dense, unpredictable environment of Psiri. Local organisation Awesome Athens Experiences played a key role in production, coordinating logistics, managing a last‑minute change of wall, and working closely with neighbours and shop owners who embraced the project.
The result is a piece that feels rooted in Athens itself: layered, vibrant, and deeply connected to the city’s identity. A new landmark where mythology, street culture, and community meet.
