"The water that I shall give him"

« But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. » (Gospel of St John)

Whether in the Christian sacrament of the Eucharist, in various esoteric and alchemical traditions, as well as on the psychological level, the cup contains and transmits the elixir of life, whether it be spiritual truth, emotional healing, or psychic integration. The image of the cup, here given by a young woman's hand to an elderly man, refers to a universal theme: the chalice as a sacred vessel of inner and outer transformation, a link between the material and spiritual worlds. The circular motif in the background symbolizes the cyclical nature of this perpetual transformation process, supported by the evocation of the seasonal cycle, with a marble background representing permanence.
