Croydon - Past, Present and Future

This work embraces the history, the past, present and looking towards the future of this space. I pay homage to Tosha Thakkar through the lotus flower, the national floral emblem of her home country of India. For the present, I chose the white rabbit spotted early each morning walking down this lane with its elderly owner. Rose blossoms symbolise the future, sourced from the crest of the Presbyterian girls college overlooking the lane. Turpentine blossoms in varying states of bloom are a nod to Croydon's Turpentine Forest of the past. The Turpentine blossom appears as a reminder of what was, and what will be.
