That part of Riga

This large-scale street art was created in 2018 and covers the walls of the pedestrian tunnel that connects Riga's central part (Gertrudes iela) with Maskavas forštate [Moscow's suburbs], but initially the idea of renewing the pedestrian tunnel walls by painting them came from Moscow's suburbs residents in 2015. The wall art is a mix of places that associate with Moscow's suburbs and parts of the song "That Part of Riga" song lyrics. 

The author of the song - Latvian singer and songwriter Māra Upmane-Holšteina - granted permission to use her song's lyrics on this public artwork.

The places visible in the wall art was agreed upon with the municipality and the chosen objects are the ones that show the characteristics of Moscow's suburb, these objects are as follows: Orthodox church, Lutheran church, 15th trolley, The twin water towers,  Latvian Academy of Sciences and Riga Central Market, wooden houses and suburb's architecture.
