"The Frog and the Snake" Calle Alemania on the river Guadalmedina by d.darko1981 from Malaga created in 2015 for MAUS Malaga as part of
A traditional story of African origin in which we discover that the world of children is different from that of adults.
Narrator: A baby frog jumped through the field, happy not to be a tadpole anymore, when he encountered a very rare creature crawling on the ground.
At first he was very frightened, because never before in his short earthly life had he seen such a long and fat worm.
In addition, the sound he made when he stuck his tongue in and out of his mouth was very frightening. It was indeed a strange animal, but it had the most beautiful colors the little frog had ever seen.
Frog: How sweet is it!... I'll come and talk to you... Hello!... Who are you? How to crawl on the floor?
Snake: I'm a baby snake... It's that snakes run like this. Do you want me to teach you?
Frosch: Yes, yes!... Teach me, snake friend.
Narrator: The baby snake gave him a few lessons in the secret art of crawling on the floor, something no frog had tried before...
Snake: Look here?... So...
Narrator: After several failed attempts, in which the baby frog swallowed a lot of dirt, he managed to advance a few meters and imitate the baby snake...
Frog: I did it!... . Now I want to teach you how to jump. Would you like to?
Snake: Of course, teach me, please!
Narrator: The baby frog taught the baby snake the difficult art of jumping, something no snake had ever tried.
Snake: How difficult!
Frog: No, you will see that it works ... Look closely at how I do it...
Narrator: It was just as difficult for the baby snake to learn to jump as it was for the baby frog to learn to crawl on the floor. But in the end, he succeeded...
Snake: I got it!... I learned to jump like you!
Narrator: The two friends spent the whole morning playing and having fun. They would have stayed all day if their respective bellies hadn't started growling and reminded them that it was time to eat.
Frog: See you tomorrow, snake friend, at the same time!
Snake: See you tomorrow, frog friend!
Frog: Hey Mom, look what I've learned!
Narrator: The baby frog began to crawl on the floor, proud of what he had learned.
Frog Mother (angry): Who taught you that?
Frog: A very cute colored baby snake I met this morning.
Frog Mother: Listen to me carefully. I strictly forbid you to meet this animal again, you know?
Frog (anxious): Why, Mom?
Frog Mother: Because we don't like snakes. End!. They are poisonous and evil. They also hate us.
Frog (cries) : But this snake doesn't hate me. She is my friend.
Frog Mother: You don't know what you're saying. And stop complaining, is that okay?
Narrator: The baby frog didn't like a single one of the delicious flies his mother had prepared for lunch. It wasn't hungry. Just sad.
When the baby snake arrived at his house, something similar happened...
Snake: Look, Mom, look what I've learned!
Snake Mother: Who taught you to jump in such a ridiculous way?
Snake: I met a very nice baby frog this morning.
Snake Mother: Frogs and snakes cannot go together! What a shame! The next time you come across this frog, you'll kill it and eat it!
Snake : Why?
Snake Mother: Because snakes have always killed and eaten frogs. This has been the case in the past and must always remain so.
Snake: (crying) But, Mom, how am I supposed to kill my girlfriend and then eat her?
Narrator: The next day, at the time of the appointment, the baby frog and the baby snake did not greet each other. They felt a great sadness in their hearts, but they stayed away from each other and looked at each other with distrust and distrust.
Narrator: Albert Einstein said: Sad time ours!... It is easier to dissolve an atom than a prejudice.
